Welcome to Roselands Primary School from Co-Headteachers – Jane Carson and Sara Hill

We are delighted to welcome you to Roselands and hope you will arrange a visit to come and see us in action.

We are situated at the top of Roselands Estate, enjoying attractive, extensive grounds which we use for work, sports and play. Our eleven classes are housed across two well-resourced buildings, joined by a covered walkway surrounding our Oak Garden. 

Our skilled, hard-working team of staff support and teach our children, planning and assessing in ‘phases’ – Early Years (two reception classes), Key Stage One (years one and two) Lower Key Stage Two (years three and four) and Upper Key Stage Two (years five and six).

In January 2024 we joined Danes Educational Trust, alongside fellow Hoddesdon schools: The Cranbourne Primary School and The John Warner School. We are delighted to continue supporting our families and the local community, making the difference together as one trust.

We help each child to develop to the maximum of his/her potential ability by educating the whole person – intellectually, physically, morally, spiritually and emotionally. Equal access to the National Curriculum is provided for every pupil.

We maintain a broad curriculum based on English and Maths with a thematic approach encompassing Science, History, Geography, Art, Technology and Music. PSHE, Sport & PE and RE are timetabled for all the classes.

We foster the development of the Arts. For the third consecutive year The UK Association for Music Education has awarded us the National School Music Mark in ‘recognition of a commitment to providing high quality music education for all children and young people.’  In addition to the weekly music lessons for all, specialist instrumentalists visit weekly to teach brass, clarinet, oboe, flute, piano, violin, cello, double bass, guitar, drums and singing to over a hundred pupils in key stage two who have chosen to learn.

We have achieved a gold ‘sportsmark’ in recognition of our offer of a very strong sports programme across all areas of the school, where we have been congratulated for using a variety of methods to engage students in regular activity.
